The grand and glorious theme of this Psalm is the Word of God.  His Word is His Way, His Testimony,
His Precept, His Command, His Law, His Righteousness and His Statute.  Line upon line, Psalm 119
paints a perfect picture of the Spirit-filled
and Word-filled Christian soldier, the sons of God in glory.

Those who respect, learn, understand and keep His Word (both the written and present-proceeding
Word):

Are strengthened (28)

Are removed from the way of lying (29)

Keep it to the end (33)

Have their eyes turned from beholding vanity (37)

Are quickened in His righteousness (40)

Have an answer for them that reproach them (42)

Walk in liberty (45)

Are comforted in the midst of affliction (50)

Sing a
new song (54)

name (55)

Are not “consumed upon earth” (87)

Are settled (89)

Do not perish in their affliction (92)

Are saved (94)

Possess understanding and light (130, 169)

Have their steps ordered by the Lord (133)

Experience the righteousness and faithfulness of His testimonies (138)

Are consumed with zeal toward those who have forgotten His Words (136, 139, 158)

Love His Word and its purity (no mixture) (140, 159, 163, 167)

Know that His Law is Truth (142, 151, 152, 160)

Delight in His Commandments and Laws (143, 174)

Live (144)

Are delivered (153, 170)

Do not decline from His testimonies (157)

Stand in awe of His Word (161, 162)

Praise Him because of His righteous judgments (164, 171)

Have great peace (165)

Are never offended (165)

Know that they live before God (168)

Speak His Word for it is righteous (172)

Are helped by the Helper (173, 175)

Do not forget His commandments (176).

Like Ezekiel, they have consumed the Word of God until it has consumed them to their end.

Like Jeremiah, the Word in them is like a FIRE SHUT UP IN THEIR BONES.

Like Jesus, they become so united to the Word that in time they become
“the Word made flesh”
which tabernacles among the inhabitants of the world.

This is the heritage and lifestyle of the sons of God in glory. This is their lot. This is why they are hated
and this is why they are loved.

Grace and peace be unto the sons of God.
